Our Mission

Remembering our history and building a legacy of health for the future.

SSM Health St. Anthony Foundation is a nonprofit organization that receives charitable gifts to support patient care at SSM Health’s hospitals, including St. Anthony Hospital – Oklahoma City, Bone & Joint Hospital at St. Anthony, St. Anthony Hospital – Shawnee, St. Anthony Hospital – Midwest and other health ministries. Gifts to the Foundation save lives, treat diseases and provide exceptional, compassionate health care to all who enter our doors.

We stay true to the Mission and Values set forth by our founding sisters more than 120 years ago.

They traveled hundreds of miles from Maryville, Missouri, to Oklahoma City in search of money to support their local hospital. Because the newly established territory did not have a hospital, its citizens were dying from lack of care.

Seeing this great need, they were inspired to stay and serve. On August 1, 1898, they opened St. Anthony Hospital in Oklahoma City, a small hospital with 12 beds.

As the hospital grew, the Sisters’ vision to provide service to those in need flourished – a vision we still honor today.

The communities SSM Health serve continue to grow, and so does our Foundation’s commitment to facility and care enhancements for the benefit of all patients.
